Stuart Reid has been a full-time children's author since 2012. He's had nine books published, and performed at over 3,000 schools, libraries and book festivals throughout Britain, Ireland, Dubai,
Abu Dhabi, Hong Kong, China India, Spain and Australia. 

 

His book events are called Reading Rocks! and it's Stuart's mission to inspire, engage and enthuse young people, especially boys and reluctant readers, to learn to love books. Designed to promote literacy, learning and laughter, there's even a school that has hosted his book events annually
since 2011.

This year, 2026 is the Literacy Trust's National Year of Reading 2026, a UK-wide campaign designed to inspire more young people to make reading a regular part of their lives. And as a children's author, Stuart believes that every year is the year of reading, and aims to inspire children to read more books more often.

His work as a reading ambassador can support every school's improvement plan for literacy. He has been part of the Scottish Book Trust's Live Literature program and Reading Schools campaign for over fourteen years, as well as a member of the Society of Authors,

In addition to his book events, he offers schools creative writing workshops, designed to encourage pupils to capture and craft their story ideas; and understand story formats through Genres, Plotting, Settings, Creating Characters, Powerful Openers and Strong Descriptions.
